Student Publications and Media

The University of Tampa's student publication and media teams strive to uphold artistic standards and create memorable work. The University offers four student-produced publications plus student-run TV and radio stations.

Publications

The Minaret
The Minaret is the University's student newspaper, published weekly. For information, students should visit The Minaret's office, located on the second floor of Vaughn Center, contact a member of the editorial staff at (813) 253-3333 x 3636 or e-mail minaret@ut.edu.

The Moroccan
The University's yearbook, The Moroccan, chronicles each major event of campus life during the academic year. The publication offers opportunities for gaining editorial, business and advertising experience. The Moroccan's office is located on the second floor of Vaughn Center. Quilt
Quilt is the University's student literary magazine and publishes fiction, essays, poetry, drawings, and photography. Working with a faculty advisor, the student editorial board selects submissions, designs and produces the magazine. Interested students may apply for a position on the editorial board or staff. Final selection is based on experience and general qualifications.

Respondez!
Published annually by the Honors Program, Respondez! is a campus-wide forum for nonfiction writing. Students are encouraged to submit their work for consideration, including research papers, personal essays, other nonfiction writings, projects and art. Manuscripts must conform to the MLA Style Manual. Published authors are solely responsible for their printed opinions, but written responses are accepted. Honors students manage, edit and design this publication. New staff members are welcome. Contact the Student Activities Office or the Honors Program for more information.

Media

WUTV
Broadcasting on channels 17 and 23, The University of Tampa closed-circuit television station covers UT news, events and sports. The daily schedule includes original student programming, movies, and bulletins. Students can register for a practicum in broadcast and management and receive course credit or may participate as volunteers. Contact the Student Activities Office for more information on how to get involved.

WUTT
WUTT, the student-run radio station provides students with an opportunity to gain radio experience. In addition to offering eclectic programming for any musical taste, WUTT also airs student engineered and produced programming. Students may register for a practicum in broadcast and management to receive course credits or may participate as volunteers.
