Each year, more than 900 UT students reside off campus. For these students, the University provides the following commuter services:
Lounge Area

Vaughn Center Commuter Lounge.
The commuter lounge, located on the second floor of the Vaughn Center, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. The lounge offers a variety of accommodations for campus needs. The kitchenette is equipped with two refrigerators, a sink, cupboards and a microwave. A large screen television with cable access, VCR, lockers and desks provide a great place to spend time between classes. Many events such as monthly cookie socials are held in the commuter lounge.
Lockers
Individual lockers are available in the commuter lounge to keep books and personal items secure. Each student supplies his or her own lock.
Parking and Campus Security
Student Parking is available throughout the campus. The Rick Thomas parking garage, located between North A and North B streets on the west side of campus, has approximately 800 spaces. Street parking is very limited. Students are encouraged to park in the garage. The cost is $45 per year with a valid UT ID and vehicle registration. Information is available through campus security.
Dining Services For information about UT dining services, locations and schedules, please see http://dining.ut.edu/. Spartan Commuter Organization
Some students commute to campus, attend classes and return home. Others become actively involved in campus life, from working with classmates on group projects to holding an office in student organizations. Students who reside off campus can become involved in the
Spartan Commuter Organization (SCO). The mission of SCO is to unite UT commuters, address commuter issues, and help enhance campus life. Commuter students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of student life. Visit the
Student Activities Office for more information.
