The University of Tampa is a private, urban institution that encourages its Campus Safety & Security officers to strictly enforce parking policies. Faculty, staff, and students, as well as their guests, are responsible for understanding and complying with these regulations.

IT IS THE VEHICLE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT CAMPUS SAFETY & SECURITY - IN ADVANCE - REGARDING ANY QUESTIONS, CONCERNS OR CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAY RESULT IN A CITATION OR VEHICLE IMPOUNDMENT:

  • Students are required to register their vehicles, properly display valid parking permits, and use their designated parking areas Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Parking permits expire annually on Aug. 15; they may not be reproduced, altered, or transferred to another individual or vehicle. Costs: August-December: $50; January-April.: $35; May-June: $30; July: $15; replacement permit: $15.
  • All guests/visitors must obtain a temporary (no cost) permit.
  • Hanging permit must be placed on the rearview mirror facing the front of the vehicle and be plainly visible.
  • Stick-on permit must be permanently attached to the rear (driver's side) window, lower left corner. For convertibles or other special situations, please contact Campus Safety & Security Office as improper permit display will result in a citation.

  • The Plant Hall and Sykes Building parking areas are restricted to faculty, staff and special event parking, except for weekdays 5-10 p.m., when evening class students may park there.
  • "Loading/Unloading Zone" areas are for that purpose only and restricted to 15 minutes duration.
  • The Thomas and West Parking Garage first floors are designated for faculty, staff and visitors only. Students must use parking garage levels two and up.
  • Freshmen (commuters and residents) must use the West Parking Garage at all times.
Citation Appeals and Payments | Back to top.
  • A citation appeal may be filed with the University Traffic Board within five business days of the citation date.
  • Appeal forms may be obtained and returned to the Campus Safety & Security Office.
  • Any citation must be paid (Plant Hall, Bursar's Office, Rm. 428) within 14 business days of the citation date.
STUDENTS WITH UNPAID CITATIONS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES OR OBTAIN TRANSCRIPTS.

  • All University Community members are required to register their vehicles, display valid parking permits, and use their designated parking areas Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The absence of "No Parking" signs or curb paint does not suggest that parking is permitted.
  • Vehicle may be impounded at the owner's expense for:
    • parking in a fire lane, reserved space or no parking area.
    • obstructing traffic/pedestrian flow, creating a hazard, or interfering with University operations.
    • remaining unmoved for three consecutive days.
  • Parking or driving privileges may be revoked for:
    • five or more violations per semester or seven or more violations per academic year.
    • providing fraudulent information or improper permit use.
    • hit-and-run accident involvement.
    • driving while under the influence or alcohol or drugs.
  • Driving the wrong direction on one-way streets is prohibited and strictly enforced.
  • The maximum UT campus speed limit is 15 mph.

Parking Violations:
All parking violations are $35, except for the following:
  • Failure to display or properly display a parking permit: $20
  • Parking facing traffic: $20
  • Parking within 20 feet of a fire hydrant: $50
  • Parking in a handicap space without a valid permit: $75
  • Moving, removing, altering, defacing or destroying traffic and/or parking devices (including traffic cones, barricades and gates). Campus conduct charges may also be filed. $75
Moving Violations:
  • Running a stop sign: $50
  • Driving the wrong way on a one-way street: $50
  • Failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk:$50
Speeding Violations (maximum campus speed limit is 15 mph):
  • 1-5 mph over campus speed limit: Warning
  • 6-14 mph over campus speed limit: $30
  • 15-19 mph over campus speed limit: $50
  • 20 mph or more over campus speed limit: $75
Note: Individuals driving recklessly, driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, repeating serious violations, or driving/parking on campus after privileges have been revoked will be referred immediately to the Office of Student Conduct.
