The focus of the festival is exclusively on the finest of current international cinema selected to provide an opportunity for the Tampa Bay area to better understand and enjoy diverse cultures from around the world.
Feature films from Brazil, Cuba, France, Germany, Japan, China and Africa have already been programmed, and more will be added as the event draws near.
The director of the festival is Rob Tregenza, an internationally known feature director and professor of communication at UT.
“This festival will be designed to bring the very best of international cinema to Tampa,” Tregenza said. “I believe there has long been a need for this type of arts programming in Tampa.”
Festival sponsors include Regal Cinemas, The University of Tampa and Tampa-based arts and cultural groups.
Film titles, directors, specific screening times and other details will be released in the coming weeks.
