Parachute Jump to Highlight Annual Drill Meet

Published: November 29, 2005
The Special Operations Command Parachute Jump team from MacDill Air Force will kick off UT ROTC’s annual Lisa Pauchey Drill Meet with a jump into the University’s Art and Polly Pepin Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 8 a.m.

More than 1,000 student cadets from more than 35 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs throughout Florida compete in team events at the meet, which continues until 4 p.m. The team displaying the best combination of discipline, form and execution wins the coveted Best Overall Award. Competitive events include flag color guard and various drill contests.

Held since 1973, the meet was named in 1983 for a UT ROTC cadet killed by a drunk driver the previous year. Pauchey maintained a 3.5 GPA and was president of the UT chapters of Delta Gamma sorority and Sertoma Club. She was nominated for Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Military Student Award and the Order of Loyal Legion Award.

The Pauchey family attends the event each year and presents the Best Overall Award to the winning JROTC program.
