Homecoming Events to Begin This Week

The University’s Homecoming 2004 events will begin Thursday, Oct. 14, and continue through Sunday, Oct. 17. This year’s theme is “Tune Into Spartan Radio” and the play list will be packed with fun for more than 500 alumni from around the world who are expected to attend.

Thursday, Oct. 14:

Golden Spartans Luncheon — Reunion luncheon for classes of 1933-54 and their guests. Plant Hall Fletcher Lounge, 11:30 a.m.

National Alumni Association Annual Meeting — All alumni are invited. Riverside Center Alumni Conference Room, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet — The University of Tampa Athletic Hall of Fame Committee inducts its newest class. Combination Hall of Fame banquet and golf packages are available. Vaughn Center Crescent Club, 6:30 p.m.

Bonfire — Homecoming weekend kickoff with band, chants, etc. Art and Polly Pepin Stadium, 7 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 15:

Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Tournament — The University of Tampa Athletic Hall of Fame Committee hosts the annual golf tournament for the benefit of the Sword and Shield Club Athletic Scholarship Fund and Athletic Hall of Fame renovation project. Combination Hall of Fame banquet and golf packages are available. Avila Golf and Country Club, 11:30 a.m.

Minaret Climb — The name says it all!  Plant Hall, fourth floor, north wing, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Spartan Happy Hour — Riverview Room, Radisson Riverwalk Hotel, 6-8 p.m.

Studio-f Open House — Meet world-renowned visiting artist Miriam Schapiro as she presents her new monoprints. Also, view the Schapiro exhibit, the inaugural exhibit for the new Scarfone/Hartley Gallery. R.K. Bailey Art Studios, 6-8 p.m.

Homecoming Game — UT Spartans vs. Rollins Tars (soccer). Art and Polly Pepin Stadium, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 16:

Decade of the ’50s Open House — 11th annual elegant luncheon for the classes of 1950-59. Vaughn Center Crescent Club, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Decade of the ’60s Reunion Luncheon — Fourth annual decade reunion for the classes of 1960-69, with special guests the class of ’64. Plant Hall Grand Salon and Music Room, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Art Brunch — Mingle with members of the art community and view an exhibition of 20 major works by world-renowned visiting artist Miriam Schapiro. Scarfone/Hartley Gallery at R.K. Fifth, 10th and 25th Reunion Luncheon — Plant Hall Grand Salon, noon-2 p.m.

Monte Carlo Night — The 23rd annual night of casino-style gaming fun and cocktails in the elegant Crescent Club, on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, 6-11 p.m.  Proceeds benefit the UT scholarship fund.

Sunday, Oct. 17:

Family Minaret Climb and Brunch — Plant Hall East Verandah, 10 a.m.-noon.
