Mission Statement
The Student Affairs Division of the University of Tampa strives to fulfill the University’s mission by working to develop each student into productive and responsible citizens. To this end, Student Affairs departments design programs encompassing the values of honesty, citizenship, trust, respect, and responsibility.
Honesty
Honesty is the foundation for students’ learning, research, and service. Honesty begins within the student and extends to all other community members. An honest community opens the opportunity for a true exchange of ideas, a pride in one’s accomplishments, and a lifelong development of personal courage.
Citizenship
Citizenship is a key component to any community. Committing to actions that benefit the community over self, as well as engaging in activities that better one’s self and others, are cornerstones to citizenship. Appreciation of all contributions and acknowledgement of differences within the community are necessities of all citizens.
Trust
Trust flourishes in an atmosphere of truthfulness and commitment to the community. When fairness and impartiality become the norm within the community, trust is established to benefit all members. All community members should conduct themselves in a manner that makes them worthy of the trust of others.
Respect
Respect is appreciation exchanged between all community members. This standard of interaction allows sharing, learning, and experiences to take place without disruption or degradation. When a community demonstrates respect, its members benefit through the increased trust and recognition that is evident.
Responsibility
Responsibility indicates that community members are accountable for their decisions and actions. Being responsible not only empowers members to make sound personal choices but to work against negative behaviors and attitudes that exist within the community as a whole.
We believe that through the promotion of these basic values, not only will the University’s mission be fulfilled, but also our students will be given opportunities to explore and flourish within the campus community environment. Our goal partnership with faculty members and experiences both in and outside of the classroom provide a complete and fulfilling educational experience.
