Graduate students can participate in a wide variety of services including workshops featuring employers, Career Connections networking opportunities, and other offerings. Workshops are typically offered between 5 to 5:50 p.m. on weekday evenings, as noted on the HIRE-UT calendar. Students typically attend a workshop on a given subject of interest as a first step before participating in an individual appointment in order to maximize the time during individual appointments and “work smart.” Drop-in appointments, group appointments and individual appointments are all open to graduate students.
Career Services also offers on-campus recruiting, company information sessions, a business etiquette dinner, speed networking with several employers, and a mock career fair in which students can practice their networking skills with a select group of employers before the actual career fair. Pre-registration is required in order to participate in these valuable opportunities.
Leveraging all of your resources is a critical component to a successful job search. In addition to the services above, graduate students who are currently employed may be entitled to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) resources through your employer. EAP resources may include career counseling paid for by your current employer. EAP services are confidential and in many cases held off-site through EAP organizations.
