The Board of Counselors brings together volunteers to serve as ambassadors for The University of Tampa. Since 1962, they have worked to promote higher education in the Tampa Bay community.
With nearly 75 members, the Counselors organize social events to raise awareness and funds for UT and maintain programs designed to prepare students for life after college. Through their membership commitment, Board of Counselors members find rewarding opportunities to network with peers who share their belief in the value of higher education.

The Board of Counselors asks members to: - Serve as an ambassador of The University of Tampa among peers in the community
- Support Counselors' initiatives and programs
- Participate on a Board of Counselors or Trustee committee
- Mentor students
- Identify potential members
- Financially support the Counselors and the University by: Paying Annual Membership Dues of $100 and an Annual Fund scholarship gift of $150.
Board of Counselors Signature Events Counselors are encouraged to participate in one or more of the following planning committees as well as attend the events.
The
Spartan 5K takes place Saturday, Oct. 20, during UT’s Homecoming Weekend. The annual event offers members, alumni and the community a scenic run through the beautiful UT campus and downtown Tampa. For more information or to register, visit

The "
Speed Networking Night," E-Mentor program and Gateways classroom participation provide opportunities for interaction with UT students to offer guidance and career direction. By registering with the Office of Career Services, Counselors provide industry information, mock interviews and resume critiques. Counselors can also participate in UT career fairs and post career/internship opportunities for UT students through the online HIRE UT service.
The
International Symposium brings global leaders to campus in the spring to present discussions on international issues pertaining to Latin America. Dialogue between students, local leaders, community members and distinguished guests is encouraged.
The
Annual Spartan Golf Classic raises funds for scholarships and the UT Swim Team. Traditionally held in May, the tournament offers a great chance to invite business associates to participate in a UT event. The event is hosted by the Board of Counselors with participation from the Board of Fellows and Board of Trustees.
Throughout the year, Counselors are also invited to networking socials on campus and in the surrounding area, such as the Kickoff Social, Gasparilla Parade and annual Holiday Party, to interact with other board members and the University community.
