The
Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) major provides balanced training and experience in the three performance areas associated with musical theatre: music, drama and dance.
Students develop performance skills and repertoires of monologues and scenes, while participating in
staged productions and concert cabarets. The program includes in-residence workshops with established music theatre artists and internship opportunities with a local theme park, theatre company or other venue deemed appropriate by the faculty and program director.
An audition is required for admission to the program (see requirements below). Students in the performing arts program must successfully pass a second-year evaluation review during the spring semester of the second year of study (or, for transfer students, after 60 hours are earned). Transfer students who are admitted with junior status are exempt from the evaluation, which includes performance in all three areas of the performing arts major (singing, acting and dance/stage movement).
