The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers a solid liberal arts foundation through more than 100 academic program options, including degrees, pre-professional concentrations and certificate programs.

In classrooms with an average size of 21, students receive personal attention from professors dedicated to teaching excellence. With 90 percent of faculty holding doctorates, professors are experts who serve as both advisers and mentors. All laboratory classes are taught by professors, not graduate students.

On campus, students develop their skills and talents through:
  • 1,000-seat Falk Theatre performance center
  • Electronic music laboratory
  • R.K. Bailey Art Studios, providing an expansive gallery and art facilities
  • State-of-the-art computer lab facility for Web and video production
  • High-technology language laboratory
  • Marine Science Field Station and the BIOS, UT’s 40-foot research vessel
  • Teacher training classroom
  • Student-run radio and television stations, WUTZ and WUTV
  • The University of Tampa Press
  • Partnership with Tampa General Hospital and nursing program
Students gain a global perspective through a wealth of cultural programs and experiences, including study abroad opportunities in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Costa Rica, Russia, France, Spain, Italy and other countries. More than 350 international students from nearly 100 countries are represented in the student body. Faculty at the College includes eight Fulbright scholars, 50 professors who have lived and worked overseas, and 20 who have presented research in other countries.

The University encourages learning through hands-on, practical experience. The College helps students find internships with hundreds of companies and organizations such as the U.S. Congress, Department of State and the CIA, federal and state judges, Hillsborough County schools, Florida Aquarium, Walt Disney, professional sports teams, Tampa Museum of Art, and local television and radio stations.

Graduates have gone on to attend the finest graduate, medical and law schools. They have become senators, governors, physicians, lawyers, writers and other successful professionals. With a strong education, CLAS graduates have achieved success across the nation and around the world.
